What began with many prayers for community to be nurtured and kingdom life to be experienced in a public space turned into a reality in December 2016. Since then, The Living Room has taken shape through the hard work and support of many people inside and outside of downtown community fellowship (www.dcfclemson.org).
The Living Room is a place where anyone can come and enjoy coffee + community. We strive to support our neighboring businesses by providing a comfortable place to wait for appointments, utilize our free wi-fi, or grap a coffee to go. Students can feel at home, study uninterrupted, sit peacefully or even take a nap.
We believe that Jesus changes lives through conversation and one of the best ways to enjoy conversation is over great tasting refreshments. We proudly serve Due South Coffee (facebook.com/duesouthcoffee)
Currently, our two special events are OPEN MIC NIGHT and Exam Week Coffee House. OPEN MIC NIGHT is once a month on a Thursday from 7p-9p and welcomes all ages to share performance art in a supportive, family friendly environment. Exam Week Coffee House is during Clemson University finals week. We open for additional days to provide much needed study space for students.
The Living Room is completely volunteer run. We rely on people to make homemade snacks as well as host for 3 hr shifts. Because we have a very low overhead we can in turn support dcf with the revenue we generate from our refreshments.
The Living Room exists to be a place where people can experience true community, community that represents Christ’s body, operates according to His Spirit and brings glory to our Father in heaven. We are honored and proud to be a part of its beginnings and can’t wait to see the rest of the story unfold.
